Biography of Rev. Daniel Sather

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1961 when my father was a student at Eden Theological Seminary. The Rev. Dr. Alan Miller baptized me at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ. Since my father’s graduation and Ordination, I lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio. I left for Heidelberg College in 1979 where I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and earned a Certificate of Education for Elementary and Junior High students. I graduated from Heidelberg College in 1983.

In September of 1983, I married Carly Stucklen Sather and together we began classes at Eden Theological Seminary. I graduated from Eden Seminary in 1987 and Carly received her Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in 1997. We are the parents of Andrew and Aaron. Andrew is a student at Heidelberg College and Aaron is working and attending classes at a Community College.

I was ordained in July of 1987 and have recently celebrated twenty years of Ordained Ministry. I have served UCC congregations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and am currently serving as pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Evansville, Indiana.

I am very involved in the denomination at both the Association and Conference level and continue to conduct classes and workshops in Evangelism and am working very hard at understanding the Post Modern and Emerging Church that is changing the demographics of our local UCC congregations. I enjoy reading, theater, gardening, and movies. I continue to be open to the Spirit’s leaning and look forward to each day of my ministry.
